ENVIRONMENTAL AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Our contribution to the environment and community
 

At the BEST WESTERN Hotel Galles we recognize the importance of reducing waste and ensuring efficient use of resources and we highlight our commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives that we have already taken and include:
 

• To supply hot water, we have installed solar panels; to reduce energy waste, we have replaced lighting and equipment to more energy-efficient alternatives such as LED and efficient heating and cooling systems that reduce consumption by 20%; to save water, we have installed sensor and push button taps in every bathrooms;
 

• In rooms, guests are provided with several information guidelines that help us reduce water and energy consumption: an appropriate form is placed in every room offering a linen reuse option to multiple nights guests, if guests wish to have towels and bed sheets changed or reuse them and electronic room keys prevent from electric and energy waste;
 

• We actively implement recycling programs throughout the hotel with appropriate recycling bins on each floor for plastic, paper, glass;
 

• We aim to purchase all our products from ethically sourced suppliers;
 

• Encouraging guest to use public transportation and making available bike rental service for a more friendly, funny and no carbon emission option;
 

• We joined “Stay For the Planet” program, a green project created by LifeGate, the advisor and network of environmental sustainability, which has seen the participation of Best Western hotel chain as well as all the hotels in Italy part of it. The project aims at involving hotels for a concrete contribution towards an active monitoring of consumption levels and reduction of it. Each hotel has been assessed by a qualified grading advisor of LifeGate, against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, purchases and ethical behaviors. The green rating has been based on a complex mathematical calculus for giving a score on a scale from 1 to 5 leaves. Hotel Galles has been awarded 3 leaves, with a good green performance, with energy and water consumption aligned with the European standard parameters and we are committed to improve our green rating even further. • We are a member of Best Western, the world’s largest hotel chain, that promotes environmentally friendly and socially responsible policies and practices.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

The Hotel Galles has a strong corporate social responsibility. Among some of the initiatives we have started to support the community include:

• Donation of old furniture and appliances to developing countries through non-profit association as the Croce Bianca (White Cross) in Brescia;

• Hoster and promoter of various Charity initiatives, such as the fundraising dinner event “Food is good for you” supporting “SOS Villaggio dei bambini Onlus”, a non -profit organization that helps children in developing countries. Dinner held at the hotel’s restaurant La Terrazza on May 23rd 2012;

• Support financially initiatives that aim at improving the quality of the neighborhood, for example by making meeting rooms available to several non -profit associations by giving a contribution to the wider community. Thanks to its ethical behavior, the hotel’s owner has been recently awarded with the “Panettone D’oro”, the award for civil virtue.
