Milan is preparing the Universal Exposition
On the 31st March 2008, the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions), international organization with 157 States members that governs the running of Exhibitions, appointed Milan, as the city to held EXPO 2015. Milan was the chosen city as it represents a metropolis and a world network point, located at the centre of Europe.
Expo Milano 2015 is a non-commercial Universal Exposition with some very unique and innovative features. It is sustainable, technological, thematic and focused on its visitors. Open from May 1 to October 31, 2015, the Expo will host over 144 participants. Running for 184 days, this giant exhibition site at the Rho-Pero Trade Fair covers one million square meters and it is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors.
The topic for EXPO 2015 is "Feeding the Planet, energy for life" and it will be the centre of the exhibition with two fundamental issues: food and sustainability. EXPO 2015 aims at reaching a balance between human beings, nature and innovations, throughout an active cooperation of countries and transfers of technology and knowledge in order to guarantee safety, food quality and sustainable developments to the whole planet.
Is it possible to guarantee water and food for the entire world population? Is it possible to increase food security? Is it possible to have new solutions that take into account the planet’s biodiversity? The aim is not to provide only one-way solutions but to pose questions and offer visitors the tools for finding their own answers.
